Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Summary
The Human Resources Intern assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources department in functional areas related to talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, performance management and training and employment laws and regulations. The work performed will consist of special projects related to Human Resources strategic initiatives centered around process improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the Human Resources function
- Assist with transactional duties in relation to administering medical, dental, vision, life, 401k benefits, payroll, onboarding and offboarding and recruiting tasks
- Assist with special project related to a paperless environment to include filing, scanning paperwork, naming scanned documents appropriately following catalog structure and uploading scanned documents into cloud-based employment files
- Assists with filing new hire and existing employee employment documents, files and OSHA/Injury reporting paperwork
- Assist with a special project related to revised job descriptions by transferring job descriptions into new templates, adding physical demands and work environment conditions, sending documents to managers for review and maintain up-to-date library
- Assist with a special project related to an annual I9 audit to include reviewing forms and Identification, update missing identification
- Assist with the creation of Human Resources standard operating procedures and HRIS system job aids to ensure Human Resources best practices are communicated effectively to employees
- Assist with updates to organization charts monthly
- Assist with the coordination of company-wide events and wellness events
- Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Protects department’s value by keeping information private and confidential
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks
- All other duties assigned by Human Resources Manager
Qualifications
- General knowledge related to human resources transactions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Visio
- Operate effectively as a member of the Human Resources team
- Meet expectations and deliverables on time and in high quality
- Self-starter, strong initiative, technical and problem-solving analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Ability to communicate results in an effective and consistent manner
- Positive attitude and self-motivation
Experience, Education and Licensure
- Completed 2 years of schooling towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources
