Laborer

The Laborer performs a variety of general labor tasks within the manufacturing and production areas of Berry Metal Company. This position supports daily operations by assisting with material handling, machine setup, cleaning, and general plant maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

The Laborer performs a variety of general labor tasks within the manufacturing and production areas of Berry Metal Company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor duties such as material handling, loading/unloading, and moving products or equipment within the facility
  • Assist machine operators, welders, and fabricators as needed
  • Accurately measure, mark, and cut materials using a tape measure, square, and other measuring tools
  • Prepare materials for production by cleaning, organizing, or staging parts
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Support quality and safety initiatives by following company policies and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and packaging when required
  • Perform routine maintenance or cleanup of equipment and workstations.
  • Consistently hit daily planned times on jobs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Knowledge of measuring tools (calipers, tape measure, squares, micrometers).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Must be able to follow work instructions and SOPs
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, steel or industrial environment a plus
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and basic math skills
  • Familiarity and ability to safely operate saw, shop equipment, shot blast
  • After passing certifications, operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely
  • Accurately log in and out of jobs in the ERP system and accurately fill out job paperwork

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • The employee must be able to stand for up to 10 hours
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
