Mechanical Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Seven plus years relevant work experience, work experience in a customized manufacturing environment, a plus
  • 3D CAD and Parametric Modeling Training
  • ISO quality control system training
  • Industry experienced preferred

Skills Required

  • Ability to perform Engineering analysis including strength of materials, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and flow analysis. Proficiency in the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) / Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods & software is a plus.
  • Maximizing existing technologies to best support the existing customer base as their operational needs change.
  • Leading and developing Patentable Ideas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all Engineering Department, Sales Department, Plant personnel, and Customers.
  • Technical drawing and documentation viewing, reading, writing, and printing skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and learn ERP software.
  • Ability to use Modeling software to create 3-D geometries and generate drawings.
  • Knowledge of Design Codes and Industry Standards – ASME / AISE / AISC / DIN.
  • Basic understanding of TIG, MIG, SMAW, and Flux-Core welding techniques.
  • Basic understanding of metal machining and Machine Shop measurement systems (example: micrometers)
  • Basic understanding of metal foundry operations and procedures.
  • Understanding of ISO quality control system procedures and requirements.

Position Duties

  • Draft and prepare drawings using AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, INVENTOR, and manual drafting techniques.
  • Prepare and design drawings from concept sketches and marked-up drawings.
  • Create concept sketches from site visits or customer meetings.
  • Support Technical Sales Department including estimates, field work, and other general technical support.
  • Provide technical support for production.
  • Check and back-check drawings.
  • Maintain Engineering Department electronic and paper drawing files.
  • Revise marked-up drawings.
  • Create copies of drawings using Company copiers or PDF writer software.
  • Have extensive knowledge and responsibility for setting up BOMs, routings, and part numbers in the computer ERP system.
  • Assist in creating, entering, and maintaining all required ISO-related Engineering Department documentation.
  • Attend seminars and continuing education classes, and review technical publications industry current
  • Follow and comply with all corporate and Engineering Department guidelines, procedures, and rules.
  • Travel to customer sites to offer technical support.

We are not relocating candidates for this position. The person must be local to the plant and willing to work onsite at the facility.
